The average sales price (ASP) of German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex rose in the third quarter of this year, but orders went down, with Germany and the Baltic states driving demand.

The ASP jumped to €0.92m ($1.01) per megawatt in the third quarter, from and ASP of €0.79m/MW a year earlier, and reached €0.9m/MW in the first nine months of this year, up from €0.85m/MW in the same period last year.

Orders fell to a volume of 1.73GW in the third quarter of this year, from 2.25GW in the third quarter of last year, but rose by 4% to 5.1GW in the first nine months of 2024 compared to the year-ago period.

“Our sales team continued to make progress with sequential order intake growth in the third quarter,” CEO José Luis Blanco said.

“Key contributors to this growth were again the German market along with the Baltic states in Europe and the Canadian market in the Americas.

“We expect to accelerate this momentum going into the final quarter of 2024.”

An edging up of the ASP is good news for the OEM, which in the past years had been suffering from the weight of old projects with a poor cost structure while its own costs for components and transport had skyrocketed.

Between January and September 2024, clients ordered 905 wind turbines for projects in 23 countries, with the strongest individual markets being Germany, South Africa, and Canada as well as the Baltic states Lithuania and Latvia.
