Offshore vessel contractors look to pool their expertise in emerging offshore wind market

Seaway7 and Dong Fang Offshore (DFO) have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening their overall offering of offshore vessel services in the Taiwanese offshore wind market.

A Memorandum of Understanding signed by representatives of the two companies outlines their intention to collaborate in an exclusive manner with what was described as "a focus on developing a robust localised cable installation offering for the Taiwanese offshore wind projects."

Seaway7, the renewables arm of Oslo-listed Subsea 7, has been operating in Taiwan since 2017 and has a marine operations base in Taichung.

The European company said it will bring comprehensive project management, engineering and installation knowledge to the partnership, pointing to with a global track record of more than 2,500km of submarine cables installed for offshore wind.

In Taiwan, Seaway7 is currently involved in four cable installation projects connecting more than 2.5GW to the Taiwan electricity grid.

DFO, a fully Taiwanese organisation established in 2019, will contribute with local market knowledge with marine assets and its own track record of operations, according to the MoU.

Working together we are well positioned to efficiently utilise assets, unlock synergies for our clients and further optimise project execution.”
