Ramboll snaps up K2 to become 'global leader' in wind power consulting
'No secret that talent is scarce,' Ramboll wind head Tim Fischer says as his company adds 200 employees and countries such as Taiwan and Portugal to its expertise
Danish engineering and consultancy firm Ramboll has bought its domestic wind and solar peer K2 Management for an undisclosed amount in an effort to become a “global leader” in wind energy consulting.
The acquisition has added 200 experts to Ramboll’s wind division, which it said strengthens its advisory and project development capabilities, also adding new local presences in Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan and Portugal.
“By merging Ramboll’s decade-long engineering and design skills in wind projects with K2 Management’s leading role in project development and strategic advisory, our clear ambition is to create a true global leader that is well-positioned to support our clients in all phases of wind energy projects globally,” Ramboll’s wind division director Tim Fischer said.
“It is no secret that talent is scarce in these highly specialised areas, which is why welcoming such a great team of experts to Ramboll all at once is a major milestone.”
Ramboll said that after the acquisition, its wind division now has 900 experts across 20 countries. The company intends to expand further, aiming for over 1,000 experts by next year in response to growing demand in the global wind market.
“Wind energy is one of the main enablers of the green energy transition and as the Partner for Sustainable Change with more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Ramboll is committed to playing a pivotal role in the advancement of the wind sector worldwide,” Fischer said.
Ramboll’s wind division over the last three years has been growing by about 25% per year, and expanded its global footprint, opening offices in the US, Poland, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, Korea, and Australia.
