China's new cutting edge: typhoon-proof 99-metre offshore wind blade rolls out
MingYang design, engineered for gusts of up to 70 metres per second, to be flown by OEM's in-development 11MW turbine
The first of Chinese turbine-maker MingYang Smart Energy’s 99-metre-long blades for its 11MW offshore model has come out of the moulds at its Guangdong Shanwei fabrication facility.
The new ultra-long glass-carbon composite design, engineered for typhoon-class conditions – with wind speeds of 70 metres per second or 156 miles per hour – will be flown by the MySE11-203, on tract to be commercially available from 2022.

MingYang is among the Chinese OEMs leading the charge to catch-up with western turbine-makers GE, Siemens Gamesa and Vestas, all of which are developing 12MW-plus offshore models.
