Sofie Olsen Jebsen has been named as the new CEO of Norway’s Fred Olsen Renewables as part of a wider executive reshuffle in the Fred Olsen group.

She succeeds Ivar Brandvold following his decision to retire as CEO and continue as a special advisor.

Sofie Olsen Jebsen previously headed solar and floating wind renewables specialist Fred Olsen 1848, which has named Per Arvid Holth – until now its chief project officer – as its new CEO.

Fred Olsen Windcarrier, another company in the group, has meanwhile named Haakon Magne Ore as its new CEO, taking over from Alexandra Koefoed. Haakon Magne Ore joins from Fred Olsen & Co, where he currently serves as vice president of finance

The three new CEO appointments all take effect as of 1 March.

Sofie Olsen Jebsen has a decade of experience in the renewables sector, working in several companies within the Fred Olsen & Co group, which is led by her mother Anette Olsen.

Before joining the Fred Olsen group in 2014, Sofie Olsen Jebsen worked as a senior consultant for Deloitte Consulting. She has been a board member of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association since 2020.

Fred Olsen Renewables operates 12 wind farms with more than 300 wind turbines in Scotland, Norway and Sweden.

It has an installed capacity of around 800MW and a portfolio of 4.6GW in development in Norway, Sweden, the UK and Italy.

Chair Anette Olsen said: “Sofie brings strong experience from the renewable energy industry, as well as from other Fred Olsen-related companies which will serve Fred Olsen Renewables well going forward.”

Sofie Olsen said: “I am honoured to be joining Fred Olsen Renewables, having followed the company closely for years. I was also privileged to work with the financing of their wind farms back in 2014."

“Fred Olsen Renewables has a unique legacy, a well-established portfolio and a recognized reputation within the industry. I look forward to building on these solid strengths, continuing the development of the company and its organisation."
