Interactive map | All the projects now eligible for next UK green auction
Around 23GW of offshore wind capacity now on offer for pivotal Contracts for Difference renewables auction
UPDATE: This article and the map contained were updated on 15 August to reflect updates for several projects.
The move to let unconsented offshore wind projects into the next UK green auction has doubled the capacity eligible to bid and upended developer strategies – our new interactive map lists all the projects now vying with each other for contracts.
Energy secretary Ed Miliband this month greenlit an almost dizzying array of radical reforms to the Contracts for Difference auction scheme that has propelled the UK to being a global leader in offshore wind.
This comes as he seeks to deliver on ambitious 2030 clean power targets that require revitalising an auction system that has only procured 1.4GW of offshore wind capacity that remains on track to be delivered (following the Hornsea 4 dropout) since 2022.
